Who We Are

+ Our Mission

At Lakeshore Church, we believe the gospel has the power to transform a city one person at a time. Our desire is to implement strategies that focus on gospel proclamation and demonstration within a neighborhood/community context.

Lakeshore Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who manifest God’s kingdom by loving Jesus, leading well, and living the gospel.

+ Our Desire

Our desire is to plant a gospel-centered church that mobilizes its members to engage New Orleans through their spheres and platforms of influence as they love Jesus, lead well, and live the gospel.

+ Our Vision

The vision of Lakeshore Church is simple: to keep the Gospel central in everything. In the words of the Apostle Paul, we believe that the Gospel is of “first importance.” We should constantly reflect on it, and base our lives and ministries around it.

  • We believe that the hope for New Orleans, often called the “The City That Care Forgot”, and for the nations is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe the gospel is the “power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.” We want to saturate the city and the world with the good news by proclaiming it with clarity and love, and by practicing good deeds that glorify Jesus. We desire to be a blessing to the city and to the nations with our actions and our words.
  • We believe this emphasis on the simplicity and power of the Gospel will also help us be unified. We can agree to disagree over matters that are not of first importance. But on the Gospel, we will be together.
  • We refuse to argue over trivial matters because of the urgency of getting the Gospel to the nations.

In creation, God created humanity in his image. But sin entered the world and now all people have fallen short of their purpose as God’s image bearers: to glorify God.

  • We believe that God sent Christ to redeem us; that is to rescue us from our sin by dying in our place. Now God is at work transforming his redeemed into the image of Christ, who glorify Him.
  • We believe that we will one day gather with every tribe and tongue to glorify Jesus in the new heavens and new earth, restoring all things forever. This is the story of the Bible. This is the story of the Gospel. This is the story of Lakeshore Church.

+ Our Strategy

We are committed to keeping our ministry simple. We will avoid offering numerous programs. We will meet weekly for worship to know Christ and exalt Him. We will also meet weekly in sermon-based small groups for spiritual growth, community, and ministry. And we will equip covenant members to live as everyday missionaries locally and globally as they LOVE Jesus, LEAD well, and LIVE the gospel. We will provide occasional equipping seminars and will be doing short-term mission trips throughout the year. But the weekly schedule will be simple: Worship on Sunday, sermon-based small groups (in homes), and daily missional living.

+ Our Practice

HOPE FILLED — Jesus Christ has given us a living hope, because of this Christians should be the most hopeful people on the planet. At Lakeshore Church our desire is to manifest a living hope as we are known for what we are for not what we are against. 1 Peter 1:3-9

GRACE GIVING — Apart from Christ we were dead in our sins and in a hopeless state. The gospel offers us salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. As recipients of grace Lakeshore Church desires to express grace to those who are far off and in need of God’s unmerited favor and love in their life. Ephesians 2:8

MISSIONAL LIVING — The Gospel is hope for the hopeless, because of this Christians should be aware of and concerned for the broken, hurting, and needy. At Lakeshore Church our desire is to practice missional living as we proclaim and demonstrate the gospel in the city that care forgot.

DISCIPLE MAKING — We take the command of Jesus to make disciples seriously, at Lakeshore Church our desire is to be a community of disciple-makers; starting in our home, extending to our neighborhood and city, and reaching to the ends of the earth. Matthew 28:19-20

+ Our Core Values

BIBLE EXPOSITION — We believe the Bible is the unchanging and authoritative Word of God. Because of this we practice biblical exposition (preaching sections of scripture in context) in our preaching ministry, believing it is the most effective way of communication the gospel and teaching truth.

EVANGELISM & DISCIPLESHIP THROUGH THE LOCAL CHURCH — We believe in evangelism and discipleship and seek to create a culture of evangelizing the lost locally and globally; and equipping the saved resulting in the multiplication of disciples who make disciples.

BIBLICAL COMMUNITY — The Church is not a building, but a community of believers. As such, we are to live in fellowship and community with one another as we share and live life together as God’s Church here on earth.

HOSPITALITY — Hospitality is more than being nice or showing off what you have, it is opening up your home and life to others for the sake of the gospel. At Lakeshore Church we believe practicing hospitality is the catalyst for transforming community and discipleship.

BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW — We believe Christianity is not merely a religion, it is also a lifestyle, a philosophy; a worldview. We are to think biblically about every aspect of our lives. It is only through filtering our life choices using the Word of God as our filter that we will understand, develop, and practice a Biblical Worldview.

FAMILY-EQUIPPING MINISTRY — We believe in family, that children are a blessing and that parents can disciple their children for the glory of the Lord. At Lakeshore Church we desire to minister to Children and Students through age-graded ministries; and to equip parents to disciple their children by loving Jesus, leading well, and living the gospel.

ADOPTION & FOSTER CARE — We believe in adoption and foster care as tangible ways to manifest God’s kingdom here on earth. At Lakeshore Church we seek to help those families who are interested in pursuing adoption and those desiring to provide a loving foster home for children in need. In addition, we desire to offer a support system for families who have adopted, and those who are providing foster care.

COMMUNITY MINISTRY — We believe in reaching our community with the gospel. Lakeshore Church is committed to engage and invest in our community through community initiatives, outreach, and service, believing the gospel has the power to transform a community.

NEXT GENERATION LEADERSHIP — We believe the current generation has a responsibility to invest in the next generation. At Lakeshore Church we want to intentional engage college students and young professionals as we seek to prepare the next generation to advance the gospel and impact the kingdom.

CHURCH PLANTING & MISSIONS — We believe in Church Planting and Missions as the most effective means to evangelize the lost. Through Church Planting residencies, and both national and international mission partnerships, Lakeshore Church is committed to gospel advance locally, nationally and globally.

TEAM LEADERSHIP — We promote and model churches having a team of pastor-teachers who share the corporate teaching & shepherding responsibilities.
